Quick-Tip: Separate your BlackBerry SMS messages from your Email

Your BlackBerry has just buzzed and you think it’s an email alert. It’s listed under your email messages and it’s subject almost looks like an email, but…it is not. It is a SMS message and somehow it has intruded your email messages list. Ok…well, an “intrusion” is a bit of an overstatement (I must admit) but it certainly doesn’t belong in your email list, right? Absolutely! So let’s learn how to move those SMS messages to their proper place, shall we?

First…

  1. From your BlackBerry’s main screen, open your “Messages“  application.  (The app  that has all of those precious emails listed)
  2. Click on the BlackBerry menu button and select “Options“.
  3. From this menu, click on “General Options“.
  4. Scroll all the way down this list until you locate “SMS and Email Inboxes“.
  5. From the drop down select “Separate“.
  6. Press your BlackBerry back button to save your changes and BINGO!

Your email and SMS messages are now automatically separated on the BlackBerry, instead of cluttering your email folders. This should help you keep your BlackBerry organized.

Now that wasn’t so bad was it? If you have any questions, comment,  or just need additional help leave it in the comments.

Is it possible to save SMS messages from my Bold to my PC, like I used to be able to do with my Nokia E90? If not, is there a way to email all my SMS messages from the Bold at once? I know it is possible to forward a single SMS by email, but I want to send a bunch of them at the same time?
