Downloading iPhone and iPod Touch apps are one of my favorite things to do on my iPhone device, but when I simply don’t appreciate an application’s greatness (that’s the nice way of putting it right, lol) I want to usually get it off of my iPhone as soon as possible.
This is where your appreciation of the iPhone’s ease of use comes to play. It is so great to know that not only is it easy to download and install third-party applications to your iPhone, but you can remove them just as quickly and easily as well.
From your iPhone home screen, press down on any icon until you see the icons start to shake.
Once you see the icons shaking, the icons that you are able to delete will be denoted with an “x” in the corner.- Tap on the application you wish to delete.
Once you have tapped on the application, a prompt will appear asking if you are sure you would like to delete the application. Tap on “Delete“.- After you have tapped “Delete” the application icon should disappear instantly and should be removed from your device permanently.
- You can repeat these steps to remove other applications or simply press the ” Home Button” (the big main button located at the bottom of your iPhone) to return the applications to their original state.
Tips:
- To ensure this application doesn’t reappear on your iPhone when you sync your device with your desktop, make sure the application is removed in your list of applications within iTunes also
- As a backup for your paid iPhone applications you may want to keep the application in iTunes and change the settings in iTunes to allow you not to sync all applications, only the applciations you want to save.
- This method also works to remove the shortcut icons you create on your iPhone.
Now go and delete away.
